For those of you who are considering or applying to medical school, in case you haven’t yet heard, a whole lot of material tends to be covered in a short amount of time.  There is ALWAYS a big exam coming up soon to study for.  When starting classes this year, I stretched my hamstrings, put on my helmet along with shoulder and knee pads, and generally prepared myself to learn how to ride.

I’ve never been a very effective group study sort of person because I get distracted too easily.  I typically find myself a quiet corner and separate myself from all else around me as I attempt to digest the material contained in page after page of lecture notes.  Thankfully, not everyone has begun their study of medicine in the same manner I do.

This year a group of brain-cramp-fighting super heroes has decided to organize themselves as the Secret Society of Study-guide Secrets (SSSS, insert your own trumpet sounds here).  These warriors with super study guide making powers have united to fight the darkness of brain clouds and the evil hordes of  This Is Way Too Much Material-ness.  The SSSS has made it their mission to not only conquer these evils, but to distribute the weapons that are their study guides to all of the students in our class as well before each exam.

On a more serious note, these study guides were very helpful to me in reviewing for our anatomy exam this morning.  It’s unselfish work like this that helps me to see what a compassionate physician should be like.  Thank you too the SSSS for helping to maintain the environment at ATSU-KCOM that brought me here in the first place.
